About This Spot

Walking into Homesteaders Restaurant feels like stepping into a warm corner of Minot where familiarity and comfort quietly welcome you in. The pace is unhurried, a gentle invitation to settle into a seat and let life slow down for a while. The modest, cozy setting — with hints of classic Americana decor — makes it the kind of place where neighbors and travelers alike pause to share a meal and a moment of ease.

The subtle hum of friendly chatter blends with the clink of coffee cups and kitchen rhythms, creating an atmosphere that’s both comforting and genuine. Whether you arrive early for a breakfast that smells of fresh-brewed coffee and sizzling bacon or later for a dinner that carries the satisfying scent of hearty, home-style cooking, there’s a quiet reassurance here. Portions arrive thoughtfully—never rushed—often accompanied by generous sides that speak to a deep appreciation for simple, satisfying food.

Meals take shape as much in the company and the relaxed pace as on the plate. You might find yourself savoring a favorite morning classic, like perfectly fried eggs alongside fluffy pancakes topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, or delighting in a tender, crispy chicken fried steak paired with unexpectedly thoughtful touches like a rich hollandaise when gravy runs out. The ever-present coffee flows generously, a quiet nod to the many who come just for conversation as much as the cuisine.

At Homesteaders, the experience extends beyond the menu. The care in service — often familiar and quietly accommodating — and the unpretentious, homey environment bring a sense of belonging that’s rare and quietly treasured. Here, meals are less about hurried consumption and more about moments shared, a true taste of community woven with subtle touches of Midwestern hospitality.

We came there for dinner after seeing the air museum...it was really quite not like going to other restaurants were everything is loud....the young lady who was our waitress was very nice and I had a hard time deciding between the waffle with strawberries & whipped cream and the 21 piece shrimp I chose the shrimp..Idk what the sauce is called they put with it but i am glad my friend suggest I try it..it is really good..so if your new to visiting in town ..I really do suggest this restaurant... The bathroom had a leak idk from what but I'm glad the waitress let us know before I used it and even the man who came to clean it up...was kind enough to knock and say hello so he knew if someone was in there or not and I really appreciate it..he even apologized thinking he rushed me and he did not.,very kind employee....

A good breakfast spot. The waitress brought a whole carafe of coffee (bonus points!) I ordered the usual eggs, bacon, English muffin, which was good and she went out on a limb and ordered a chicken fried steak skillet. A little bit later she was informed that the kitchen was out of gravy, but would she like hollandaise sauce instead? She went with it and it wasn’t bad. Would have been 5 stars if they had the gravy.

If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. I absolutely love this place. It's cozy and inviting, and beautifully decorated. The food is fantastic and the staff is very nice. Everything in the salad bar was fresh and delicious, and my fried cod was the best! My new favorite place in North Dakota.
